Gen 3

Compu-Fire Gen-III Starter

The Compu-Fire Gen-III Starters are the only starters in the V-Twin Motorcycle industry that are engineered for cranking the large displacement, high compression engines without the need for compression releases. The Gen-III Starter produces more cranking power than 2KW starters with half the current draw. The high energy neodymium magnets, high efficiency motor windings, and 6:1 planetary gear reduction are unique to this starter.

The splined output shaft, stepped jackshaft bolt, and shortened case design allow just one part number to cover all Big Twins from 1990 to present.

Part number 53883 fits Sportsters.

Use Part Number 53507 to adapt Gen III starter motors for BDL Open Belt Drives.

 Compu-Fire 1084 Gear Set

The Compu-Fire 1084 gear sets are engineered to increase the starter motor torque by lowering the gear ratio of the pinion gear to the clutch ring gear. When used as a replacement for the 9:66 ratio gear sets, a 15% increase in torque is obtained. They are also used as replacements for the weak 10:102 ratio gear sets which are prone to breaking on late model Big Twins.

Voltage Regulator

Voltage Regulator

 Voltage Regulators

The Compu-Fire voltage regulators have series type circuitry which allows both the stator and regulator to operate at a lower temperature by controlling the stator output. When the battery reaches full charge, the stator output is switched off by the regulator. The output voltage of the regulator is calibrated to meet the charging requirements of modern maintenance free batteries. The regulators are available in a chrome billet or black finned case.

3Phase Charging System

3Phase Charging System Comparison

3Phase

3Phase Charging System
38 Amp Replaced by 40 Amp 3Phase Charging System

The Compu-Fire 40 AMP 3 Phase charging systems provide 25 AMPS at idle and 40 AMPS continuously above 2800 RPM. The unique narrow rotor and stator combination fits Softail/Dyna primary cases and the voltage regulator bolts on without any frame modifications. The precision balanced vented rotor keeps the stator cooler in closed primary systems to maintain maximum output under all high current draw conditions. The large flanged seal spacer provides maximum support for the rotor and the voltage regulator output is calibrated to 14.25 volts from idle on up.

Mechanical Advance Ignition

Mechanical Advance Ignition Modules
The Compu-Fire mechanical advance modules are used to convert points type ignitions to electronic ignitions in 1970 and later Big Twins and Sportsters. They may also replace the Prestolite type modules and H-D electronic advance modules with the addition of an OE style mechanical advancer.

20100 Dual Fire Module 1970-Up Big
Use with Blue Rotor Twins and (included) Sportsters with points ignition

20200 Single Fire Module 1970-Up Big
Use with Red Rotor Twins and (included) Sportsters with points ignition

P/N 50108 is replacement trigger rotor for Compu-Fire Electronic Advance Ignition Modules.

 Selectable Advance Ignition

Selectable Advance Ignition Modules
The Compu-Fire selectable advance curve ignition modules are the most user friendly ignitions on the market. They feature a NEW range of advance curves to meet the needs of engines from stock to wild. The large rotary switches allow advance curve and RPM limiter selection. Easy installation is made possible with a built in LED static timing light. The modules feature extended temperature and low voltage operation with soft start circuitry for easy starting. The modules operate with single fire or dual fire coils and the VOES is tuneable.
Use with P/N 51105 Tach Adapter for single fire coil tach signal.

The Compu-Fire charging systems include the three components necessary to keep the battery charged for Evo and Twin Cam engines. The systems include a custom wound stator with the correct engine case plug, a precision balanced rotor with the magnets permanently attached and the splined center hole designed to properly fit either OE or Aftermarket engines, and a black finned series type voltage regulator with the voltage output calibrated to meet maintenance free battery requirements.

Alternator Rotors

 Compu-Fire Alternator Rotors

The Compu-Fire rotors are stamped from a magnetic grade high iron content ferrous steel. The magnets are permanently attached with a proprietary gluing process and then the assembly is dynamically balanced to exceed factory specifications. The splined hole is properly sized to fit either OE or Aftermarket engines and spacer washers are supplied to fit all applications.
